He’s not overly tall, but he’s wide in the shoulders and thick in the thighs. He’s the kind of big that’s naturally built all over: training muscles on top of mission muscles on top of an innate bulk.
He’s the kind of big that makes him immovable to most guys.
The kind of big that’s always been -ger than most everyone else—if not by height, than at least by heft.
So when they’re on mission and Ghost spots a grenade before Soap does, and, with no time to warn him, grabs him by the waist and flings him back behind cover, gear and all, Soap’s really not expecting to think much about it, aside from maybe, ‘Oh, shit.’
What he thinks instead is: ‘Oh-hmm.’
And then, in rapid succession: ‘Big.’

Rozanov spit out some rapid fire Russian, and Shane vaguely heard the slick sound of his hand wrapped around himself speed up.
“You need something in your mouth that bad, Hollander?”Shane practically sobbed, his voice was completely shot. But Rozanov seemed to understand anyway.
“I know, I know. You will not have to use your fingers next time, pretty thing. Pull the tie.”
Shane obeyed, not caring enough to smother the long string of moans that follow the motion.
“Fuck, you like having something around your neck that much? Do I need to get you a leash, щенок?”-

Their friends Scott and Kip are spending two weeks at Shane's Ottawa cottage for the off-season. It's warm, it's easy, and somewhere between the dock and the dinner table, Shane and Kip have a conversation that changes the shape of the whole summer.

Something was wrong. A wave of protectiveness swept up within him before he stamped on it hard, unleashing a powerful strike at the goal on the assist automatically. He didn’t even bother to look to see if it went in, his eyes reorienting themself to where Hollander was shrugging off a medic.
It was his Dom side, he knew. Latching onto someone it thought was his and wanting to save them from the world. But Hollander wasn’t his. He was a fun hook up, and interesting company once you got to know him a bit, but not his.
Ilya hasn't seen Hollander since Vegas, and the first time they meet on the ice, months later, Hollander's playing is awful. Ilya's a Dom, a high level one, but as far as he knows Hollander's a Null, no designation. Doesn't need headspace. Doesn't Scene. Doesn't Drop.
But Hollander is Dropping. Has Dropped. And no one else seems to notice. So Ilya steps in without really thinking things through.

In a fortuitous turn of events, both Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander are traded to the New York's Admirals. Cue Scott having to handle their shared chaos and his own repressed desires. The more boundaries he draws, the more he ends up crossing, to the point of questioning his own morals, as well as his sanity. As it turns out, he might be the man he suspected all along. The same cannot be said for Shane and Ilya.

It was during this hysterical lament that Ilya realized what was wrong, what was off. The initial softness, the confusion, the vulnerability. It was out of character — Shane was so often in control of himself, of what he said, even when emotions were high . . . with one exception.
If Ilya fucked him particularly . . . intensely, if he got Shane feeling a lot, he'd get soft afterwards. Quiet, a little ditzy, emotional. The first time it'd happened — or the first time he'd recognized it — was years ago in Las Vegas after winning MVP. He remembered the look on Hollander's face when he left — wide and teary-eyed, lip trembling, tripping over himself.
Since then, with a little trial and error, Ilya had learned how to manage it. Had grown to love it. If he treated him right, he could buff away all of Shane's sharp edges and be left with the soft, gooey inside. Floating and tethering himself to Ilya.
Now, Shane was out there, floating, without anyone to tether himself to. Falling. And suddenly Ilya was panicking, too.
