You stood still for a moment, just watching the chaos unfold around you, as each of them took on multiple guards at once. Then, a stray bullet that was intended for Bucky hit you in the shoulder. Bucky watched as you looked down where a wound should be forming. Your fingers grazed the hole it created in your jacket, and you dug the warm metal from the dense fabric, letting it fall to the ground. Something cold and dark swirled in your stomach, looking back up at the unfortunate man who’d shot you.

“No, it’s fine, I just—” Bob’s gaze shifted back and forth on the floor like he wasn’t sure what to say. Like he was planning for a lie rather than deciding how to word his genuine explanation. “I just wanted to suck you off.”

Bob couldn’t believe it was finally happening. For months he had yearned for this, spent nights silently begging the universe for this, and now the first move had been made, the line had been crossed, and he was about to have it – about to have you. Now he just hopes he doesn’t fuck it up. He wants to make you feel good, wants to prove to you that he can be good enough, and worries that if he doesn’t then you’ll regret this and never want to even look at him again. ‘Can’t you just shut the fuck up for once?’ he berates himself mentally as his thoughts drift further away from the present moment and dig deeper into his insecurities. ‘Get out of your head, be a man, and focus on fucking her. Don’t fucking blow this.’
But things don't go as he had hoped, and he ends up being more vulnerable with you than he has with anyone else.

He does. He can’t help it. He’s fucking melting into the bed like Bob’s touch is magic, all of his thoughts dissipating in the sensation.
“That’s it,” Bob continues. His touch grows firmer – thumb rubbing circles into the knots in John’s shoulder. “Just relax. You’re doing good.”
The whimper that comes out of John’s mouth is entirely involuntary and incredibly embarrassing.

"That's a good point. We shouldn't disrupt the routine." Her toes wedged themselves between his calves. There was in fact something grounding about the difference in temperature, reminding him where he was even though it was black in the room.
Maybe it was bad that this woman had become a touchstone of safety for him. But also he had so little, it was foolish not to take what was given.
