Meanwhile Viktor, twenty-two years old, figures that hey, as long as he can research magic, this isn’t too bad of a predicament.

You see, it was probably Roy’s fucking fault, because he had stupidly assumed that Jamie had enough common sense to realize that waking up at four in the morning meant he would need to be going to bed earlier in the night unless he wanted to be running on fumes. It was on him for thinking the little prick would behave in a normal or reasonable way about anything, he should’ve known better. So, now Roy had to fucking do something about it.

Seeing Jamie Tartt staring up at him with such a defeated look on his face, the boot that was chucked at his head and only narrowly missed flopped idly on its side next to him, makes something clench up in Ted’s chest.
For just a moment, he’s sixteen again, just a few seconds too late and fucking devastated. And then someone, Jamie’s dad, if he even deserves to be called that, is in his face again and Ted can’t see him anymore. In that split second, where Jamie’s slumped shouldered frame and hollow eyes disappear, Ted is forty-five once more, and he refuses to have this regret added to the tally.
Ted pushes the door open.

The question was not as abrupt as it would seem, firstly because the news that his brother was courting had clearly left Legolas in deep thought for a number of days, secondly because Legolas had long ago confessed his curiosity about the lives and customs of Gimli's kin, and thirdly because Legolas' grace was well-known to be in his light feet and not his manners.
However, Gimli saw no reason to let him have his own way entirely. "And by my people do you mean the Longbeards, or the Dwarves of Erebor, or the wandering mender that I now seem to be?"

It’s like: He’s in a car, and he’s driving real fucking fast, and for some reason it’s dark out and he can’t see for shit but he’s still not slowing down.

Jamie takes Ted's advice to heart - he forgives. Or he tries to. But it doesn't make things better. It doesn't free him from anything, and the text he sent his father makes everything so much worse, even though it hasn't been answered yet. When Jamie reaches his breaking point, he goes through a series of three conversations, seeking help determining whether something is wrong with him, whether it's okay to not forgive, and whether it's okay to decide that he's done trying.

The energy of the room shifts suddenly as Jamie’s eyes widen. It’s as though he’s just waking up, looking around quickly to get his bearings straight- as if he doesn’t remember coming to Roy’s house at all. Maybe he doesn’t. When his startled expression finally lands on Roy just off to the side, Jamie’s eyebrows raise even though his shoulders relax. He looks down at the bath again.
“What’s this?” Jamie asks as he combs a hand through the beer head of bubbles on top of the water.
“A bubble bath,” Roy says gruffly. He stares straight forward at the open-faced cabinet in front of him that has piles of fresh black towels on each shelf.
A pause. “You put me in a bubble bath?”

Isaac’s eyebrows creep impossibly high up his forehead. Dani spits a mouthful of daiquiri back into his glass. Twin looks of astonishment mixed with confusion are directed his way, and Colin wishes he could melt straight through the floor.
“We’re fucking,” he repeats, and now he’s starting to sound a bit hysterical. “We’re fucking, and he cooks me eggs in the morning, and I don’t know if he wants it to be anything other than that.”
