Summary
Bdubs couldn't sleep—and it was starting to drive him crazy.
Sleep was his whole thing. Sleep was what he did. But recently, he had found himself fulfilling the role of the world’s most insomniatic of insomniacs.
On a good night, Bdubs might catch a few fretful hours. On a bad night, he stayed awake all the way until the sun rose, pacing and trembling with energy that wouldn’t abate, like he was trapped in a permanent caffeine high.
Functioning became difficult and Bdubs turned desperate.

“You killed Scar's horse.”
Bdubs stiffened. Joel's words didn't sound like an accusation, but they impacted Bdubs exactly the same as a slap to the face.
“That was—I—”
“In front of all of us, no hesitation.” Suddenly, Bdubs realized Joel had gotten very close. He loomed almost, face flush with an intensity that bored straight into Bdubs' face and out the other side.
For a split second, Bdubs forgot to breathe.

The book evidently triggered a redstone mechanism he was not supposed to find, as beside him, a previously undetectable trap door slid open. Hesitantly, Etho peered down at the artificial light below. He considered, for a moment, slipping the book back into place.
Instead, he slid the book into the outer pocket of his vest and began to climb down.

“No one! I’m just trying to be polite! Eridians have special soundproof eating rooms, shouldn’t I?”
“You are not Eridian!”
He doesn’t need to meet our standards; he’s his own species! Some things he might need to change in his daily life to adapt to Erid life, but his food habits don’t need to be one of them. My words don’t comfort Grace like I thought they would. Grace shrinks into himself, and I wish I were on his side to hug him.
or the Entities provide Grace with a culture teacher to prepare for life on Erid and he gets his first taste of Eridian inhospitality.

“Hey! It’s a lot up here, okay? It’s a normal response to stress.” He rubs a hand over his face. “Okay, I cried a lot down there, too. But not in class! Not if I could help it. But having to say goodbye, gosh, I’ve never been good at that.” Grace laughs, but it sounds sad. His mouth is shut firmly, and he leans against my ball. He’s so soft, his body melds to the side of the xenonite with ease. “I can’t imagine what a mess I’ll be when—” he cuts himself off, but I know what was coming next.
I’m not sure how I’ll be when we say goodbye either. It didn’t seem like it’d matter so much at first, after all, if we part ways, it means we succeeded. I’d be going back to Erid, to Adrian, to home. But I’d be leaving behind Grace. The thought of that is unpleasant. It sinks deep in me; the emotion is painfully familiar. It’s been a long time since I’ve had anyone to mourn losing anyone again. I don’t want to think about it, I’m not ready.
