"Mm'kay," Mike mutters then pads forward. Will shifts, his tiredness leaving him uncertain of what Mike is planning on doing until he realizes he's effectively boxed him in. He lets out a noise that abruptly cuts off as large hands settle onto his waist, mind going blank as the heat of Mike's palms permeate through his loose T-shirt. He thinks his whole brain implodes when Mike begins to move him out of the way, murmuring, "'scuse me, baby."

Summary
Mike's parents have an agenda for him, one he wants to avoid following. He doesn't want to go to college. He doesn't want to get a girlfriend or get married. Mike wants to sit in his room all day and play his guitar. That is until his mom forces him to bring a date to a family celebration, and he thinks of a brilliant plan to piss his parents off. He forms an alliance with the new kid, Will Byers, in which he agrees to go with Mike to his family dinner, and they pretend they're dating.

Summary
Ever since their return to Hawkins in the previous spring, Will has kept a careful distance from Mike, keeping himself busy with school clubs to avoid spending time with Mike one on one - because every time they're in a room together, he finds himself on the verge of saying things he shouldn't, asking questions he knows are only going to hurt him. But then a snowstorm wreaks havoc in Hawkins, trapping him and Mike in the Wheeler house while the rest of the family are gone.
