Will thinks he’s dreaming. Mike decides to think it’s because of Will’s fever, when the idea of his best friend being convinced it’s more likely that he’s imagining it than for Mike to touch him makes Mike’s stomach drop uncomfortably.
“Sleep, Will. I’m here, I’ll always be here.”
Mike takes advantage of the half-unconscious state his best friend is in and lets his heart spill just a little, just enough for a few drops of what he feels for the boy in his arms to drop and land on his tongue.
“Love you.”
Will mutters, right into Mike’s chest, right over his heart - making it stop beating for a few long moments, when Mike’s world drops on its axis.

Will is sick and confesses to Mike while out of his mind due to the fever. Mike has a breakdown about it.

Summary
Erik hates to admit it but he's absolutely, undoubtedly, gravely terrified of death. Specifically death of people he loves, which he had experienced too many times.
When everyone in the mansion falls ill Erik finds himself back in the years he spent in ghetto or concentration camp. Years full of epidemics, deaths caused by sicknesses, full of lost and fear. So many died back then, and he knew that those deaths could be prevented if they had basic resources like food and medicine. He has them now. He's going to prevent another deaths.
Everyone is sick and Erik's fear - an unnecessary one, he tells himself, but it's still there - is driving him crazy. Charles is trying to stop this process (and save Erik from a heart attack, which will surely happen if he keeps stressing like this).

“Anything?” Charles whispered after a moment, as he seemed to realize that this wasn’t just an average conversation between the two of them. Something about it almost made Erik uneasy but he started it and he fully intended to carry it through, no matter what.
A small, almost uncomfortable laugh left him, “I was going to say I would kill for you, but I think we both already know that,” He admitted, quietly. He took a deep breath before adding, “I think I’m in too deep, sometimes. I’ve realized that, for you, I’d even give up killing.”

For a fleeting moment, he thought an awful thought. Death would have been kinder. His dearest friend, the only person to show him unconditional care, to accept him completely, to even come close to understanding Erik and still choosing to believe he was a good person. Or rather that he could be a good person. Now he’d taken everything from him.
The bullet hits the top of Charles' spine, and Erik sees he is dying and doesn't just abandon him and leave him for dead in the sand BECAUSE WHAT KIND OF PERSON WOULD DO THAT??? Lots of Charles blaming himself and taking hits left, right and centre as long as everyone else is okay even though he's clearly not.
