Maybe in another life, Till wouldn’t have had the time or the capacity to comprehend how Ivan’s fucked up little head works. Maybe in that life, they would have never known how it felt to love and be loved in return.
But that life isn’t this life, and Till knows everything there is to know about Ivan, and he loves him. He loves him so much that it aches on most days when he can’t be around him, his heart not being able to carry the love he couldn’t pour into the other half of his soul.
Okay, that’s pretty cheesy, Till thinks, as he makes a mental note to write it down for the next song he writes about Ivan.

Words couldn't convey how much Ivan wanted to kiss his pain away, or how badly he wanted to wrap his arms around him and hold him close to his chest, close to his heart. How much he wanted Till to lean against his touch, how much he wanted to tell him that he would be okay, that he wasn't as alone as he thought he was. But Till wasn't his, and Till didn't need these gestures or these words from him. So Ivan stayed quiet.
OR
Ivan finding Till alone in that room and deciding to take care of him as an act of love before their round.

He wants. He wants, wants, wants so badly, greedy monster that he is. The kind of want that makes him ache from the proof of his fallibility, a reminder of his humanity.
Spring flowers, like the wreath of red he once crushed beneath his feet, like the boy he holds in his hands now.
Fragile, fleeting, never once belonging to him.
or: during those fleeting moments before the end, ivan thinks of a boy with stars in his eyes, the spring flowers that had bloomed so beautifully in that monochrome prison, and just what he would do to protect what will never belong to him.
