“It ain’t nothing, Arthur,” Hosea sighed, tired of having this argument. “You thinking that is exactly the reason I think you should stay back.”
Arthur tried and failed to hide the eyeroll he had in response to that. “You’re worried over nothing. Dutch thinks it's fine!”

His expression was so genuine and open that she knew he couldn’t be lying. Beside her Bessie shifted slightly, moving to place her hand on her back once again, rubbing in those same soothing circles.
“Swear it.” She felt like a child saying it, but wasn’t that all she really was? A child?
“I swear. Swear on my mama’s life, god rest her soul.” He even went as far as to raise his right hand like he was testifying in court.

The main story follows roughly what the modern equivalent of the gangs shenanigan's and how they personally affected Cassidy, and the short little stories surrounding are just fun things that I think add to her character. Summary
Tim's dad is dead, killed by a boomerang to the chest, and Tim is an orphan now. He knows Bruce would adopt him if needed but he couldn't possibly impose himself on the Wayne's more than he already has. It's okay though, because he has a plan for this, he just needs someone to play the role of his estranged "Uncle Eddie".
Except... the guy he hires is weirdly concerned about his well being and Tim can't figure out why.
Meanwhile, Jason Todd is forced to reevaluate his plans for his debut as Red Hood, because, as it turns out, his replacement is a suicidal idiot who can't be trusted to stay out of trouble.
OR
Tim Drake fails to recognize Jason Todd, back from the dead, and hires him to be his Uncle Eddie to avoid getting adopted by Batman. Somehow this ruins everyone's plans.

Tearing away from Tim as if he'd been burned, Kon felt his heart leap into his throat and blocked his airway at the sadistic expression on the vigilante's face. Cornflower eyes no longer swam with a million unspoken words and emotions; they were cold and closed off.
This wasn't his Tim.
Or I remembered that Kon was erased from memory at one point, so I combined my current hyperfixation with Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

It's been months since Tim Drake officially became the newest Wayne Manor orphan.
He works hard. He knows his place. He takes care of himself.
He takes care of Gotham.
But when a new strand of fear-toxin sweeps through the city, and a teacher reports Tim as a possible abuse victim, he's forced to strike the balance between Robin's case and Tim's.
Tim refuses to let CPS get in the way of his work. He'll bury Robin, laugh off the bruises, and explain the missing time. All he needs to do is play normal teen for one visit.

Was it vampirism nudging him to seek out new life, to share his curse?
But even that thought felt incomplete. Deep down, Bruce knew it wasn’t just the hunger or the need to spread. He yearned for more than a victim. He craved a student."

Summary
When Conner died fighting Superboy Prime, he left more than just a heartbroken Tim behind.
Faced with being a single teen parent, Tim has to struggle between the loss of his father, his two closest friends, and the love of his life. Then Bruce is gone, and Robin is taken from him as well.
Betrayed by what remains of his family, Tim happily stays away, vowing to his son that he will never have to be exposed to the Bats. After all, they never cared for Tim; why would he think they would care about his child? So far, he's been lucky, not having run into any of the Bats despite still living in Gotham.
Sure, his luck was bound to run out eventually, but he hoped his son would at least be old enough to talk when it did.
Or; 5 times Tim has no choice but to introduce his son to a member of his family, +3 times he does so gladly.
