    Mike watched him skip up towards the rest of their friends, slinging his arms around Lucas' and Max's shoulders. The music became impossibly louder as soon as the door opened, smacking against Mike's chest with a startle. In the blink of an eye, he watched his friends dissolve into the crowd like a cube of sugar in hot tea.

    He ran through a brief list of goals before he stepped over the threshold of the house.
