    Summary

Though, now that he’s getting a better look at the guy, Rantaro looks rough. He’s resting a hand on the doorframe, as though to keep himself on his feet, and he’s smiling sheepishly, but Kaito catches a flicker of pain as it makes its way across his features. His other arm is laid across his midsection, and since they’re standing relatively close together, Kaito can hear how labourious his breathing is. They don’t know each other, but Kaito thinks it’s acceptable to be a little bit worried, considering how every time he’s seen Rantaro around, the guy has had a carefree smile on his face.

“Momota, hey,” Rantaro gets out. “Sorry-- I think I have the wrong dorm.”

Five of the times that Kaito helps Rantaro when he's hurt plus one of the times that Rantaro helps Kaito.

    Summary

Which means that he tends to have… a lot of food to deal with, most times. A guy can only eat so many brownies before needing a fucking break. Not that Momota made brownies this time around; it’s a Sunday, which meant he had a whole lot of free time on his hands, so he got up decently early (at around six in the morning) and set out to make some bagels. He doesn’t make bagels often. His first attempt was kind of a mess, even if in theory they shouldn’t be all that complicated to make. These ones are good, though, if the one he ate half of while it was still too hot was any indication. (The roof of his mouth hates him for it, but Momota isn’t exactly the most temperature-sensitive. He’ll get over it pretty quick.)

That’s all good and well, like, Momota is proud of himself, but he really doesn’t think he has the power required to eat all these bagels. Which means it’s time for the other solution to his too-many-foods problem.

Also known as shoving the shit he bakes down the throats of his classmates.

    ---

Momota shares some bagels with Amami, and then Ouma, when he arrives.

    Summary

“Hey, no biggie.” Kaito shrugs. “If we’re both sorry and neither of us are mad, then we can just move on… and I think you’re allowed to be a little quote on quote careless today, right?”

The reminder makes Kirumi frown. She tries to disguise the look, but Kaito’s eyes sharpen with understanding. He’s so observant. Barely anyone else in the class knows it, but Kirumi does. She tries to notice everything, where her classmates are concerned, for the purpose of serving them more effectively, and so she can gauge their potential as future clients. Kirumi doesn’t especially want to go to space—though she would if she was asked to—so Kaito wouldn’t be the easiest man to serve, but that doesn’t stop Kirumi from noticing his capabilities, either.

“Maybe more like restless?” Kaito guesses.

    “Ah… perhaps.”

    ---

Everybody knows the ways in which Kaito supports his sidekicks, but they're far from the only members of their class Kaito takes care of.

(Or, the times Kaito took care of each and every one of his classmates, plus a time where Kaito got taken care of in turn.)

    Summary

Despite how obvious it is to Ouma that Momota’s lying through his teeth, though, Saihara and Harukawa accept the excuse without a word of protest and head back to the dorms. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Ouma regards them cooly as he watches them walk away, and then turns back around. Not his business. He’ll wait for Momota to finish his gay little stargazing act and then do his meddling and go the fuck to sleep. He doubts he’s going to get much of a chance to rest once he kicks off his plan, so he’s going to need all the sleep he can g--

As Ouma starts over towards the stone again, he stops in his tracks, a shiver running down his spine.

The sound Momota just made was almost unrecognisable, deep and wet and guttural, and for a moment Ouma thinks he’s imagining things, but then Momota coughs again, and mutters, “Damnit,” and Ouma swallows down the instinctive fear that rises in his throat at how exhausted Momota’s voice is.

    ---

Ouma overhears Momota coughing after Shinguuji's trial.
