Summary
Clark Wright has always been a lost soul with a passion for history. For years he has been traveling the United States to preserve lost history as a YouTube content creator. After years of shouldering the financial responsibility, his wife divorced him, leaving him broke and without a place to stay. His best friend and video editor, Toad, takes him in to help him back on his feet.
Toad's cousin, Edie Sawyer, is an art history professor who recently lost her golden-retriever husband to cancer. Heartbroken, she finds new friendship in her cousin who she was never close to and hears all about his best friend Clark's YouTube series. Edie falls asleep listening to his voice every night, hoping to one day meet the man who brought her some comfort during her darkest days.
When Edie hears of Clark's situation, she offers to have him do a guest lecture on the neoclassical period. Clark always said he would never follow the traditional academia path, but feels the need to promote his channel and get out of rock bottom.

I misstepped. There was another table, perhaps one of those small rolling ones used in surgery. Fuck. Medical equipment shot across the floor, rattling against the metal surfaces and the linoleum. Fuck.
There was a deafening moment of stillness and silence. The door swung open; light flooding the room. I ducked and pressed myself against the table, right foot parallel against the wall, holding myself still as I tried not to shake. I didn't see anything, but I saw a long, wide shadow, stalking closer and closer, boots squeaking across the floor. He stopped suddenly, his shadow moving back, seemingly, in the opposite direction from me.
I heard him tsk, clicking his tongue playfully just before the world slowly dimmed out; cold and bleak.

Summary
