Mike is getting discharged from the hospital today. He has nowhere to go, with his mom still in recovery and unable to take care of him, and with Holly being so traumatized after Vecna. Not to mention Nancy is dead.
Joyce offers to house him in her new place. Mike suffers with the choice. With being in a house that felt wrong, with dealing with everything Vecna and the final battle left him with.
He never stops wanting to go home.

They meet up with the whole group and have a small getting the band back together party in which Will gets white girl wasted. He spills his guts to Steve about how he’s been feeling about Mike. But it’s not actually Steve.

All of Mike’s joints are killing him (metaphorically). Pain isn’t new and neither is this kind, but the fact it’s every joint lessens everything.
Will is asleep next to him and Mike doesn’t want to wake him but wakes him anyway. Or maybe it’s a coincidence, as Will also wakes in pain.
It’s just them at 2 a.m., taking care of each other the best ways they can.

Nancy wasn’t someone who was meant to be a sister. She was an independent soul from day one. She’d come into the world kicking and screaming, faced with a society that told her that she had to stick up for herself, because no one else would.
So Mike had been a wrench in her plans. With him came the title of big sister, the expectation to look after a smaller person even when they were dumb and rude and annoying. Nancy never wanted to be a sister, much less a big one, and Mike had gone and messed that up.
