Summary
In his many, many death fantasies, Will has avoided three forms of death: drowning, burning, and suffocating. They’re incomparably long and painful ways to die, and even imagining that for himself panics Will in a way he can’t handle.
The worst part is the vivid image playing in Will’s mind. He can see Nancy pressed into Jonathan’s chest, one hand clutching at his shirt, the other grabbing his hand. He can see Jonathan rubbing his thumb over the back of Nancy’s head, can see him kissing the top of her head. He hears Jonathan whisper I love you, like it even means anything in a time like that. He can even feel her grip his hand just a little tighter as they start to get consumed by a thick substance slowly rising.
It’s gross, it’s horrid, and it’s most likely not real. Will knows this, but he doesn’t fight these visions out of his head. Maybe it’s Vecna trying to mess with him, but Will welcomes it. It’s nice to see Jonathan’s face so clearly, just one last time.

Or: Nancy and Jonathan die in the Upside Down, and Mike and Will learn to navigate their grief and their feelings for each other all while defeating Vecna once and for all.

Summary
Now with the party officially being in college, the summer prior left space for them to discover themselves. Mike Wheel came to the conclusion by breaks end that he was homophobic. At least he thinks so. Whenever he saw two too close guys around each other, always sneaking looks, touching, sharing food, Mike couldn’t stand it. Not because it affected his daily life or anything, but because it affected Will’s.
He almost always noticed things like that whenever he was with Will and his friend would always have this kind of distraught look on his face. Mike couldn’t believe people like that didn’t have common decency for others. For Will. It’s normal to be weary of others most especially if they may be bothersome to your best friend.
But what isn’t normal is when your said best friend comes out as gay and starts to crush on some stupid guy and you’re suddenly starting to worry about… competition? For his friendship, of course!

Summary
Five years after Eleven's death, Mike Wheeler is still rewriting the past — haunted by guilt and regret. When circumstances force him to move seven-hundred miles to New York and live with his childhood friend after two years of silence. New feelings surface, and Mike isn't sure what to do with them.
Will Byers has his own reasons for dreading Mike's arrival, including unresolved feelings and an abundance of confusion. He was supposed to be over his childhood crush. He certainly shouldn't be dreaming of Mike every night, or drawing him over and over.

Despite his boyfriend of two years staring sultrily into his eyes, Will isn’t thinking about him. Instead, he’s frozen, staring at someone over his boyfriend's shoulder. Someone he never thought he’d see again. Someone he thought he’d be relieved that he’d never see again.
Mike Wheeler is sitting in a booth on the far side of the club. His hair is long. Long in a way it hasn’t been since they were fourteen. He’s wearing a Clash band tee over a mesh long-sleeve shirt. It looks like he’s wearing make-up, though it’s hard to tell from where Will is standing.

Years have passed, and the Party has mostly drifted apart with the onset of adulthood. But after a painful encounter of Will’s, they discover a strange connection which opens their minds to one another and forces them back together. As they try to figure out what this connection really is, and how to sever it, certain things that might never have been shared or known otherwise eventually get dragged into the light.

Mike doesn’t meander on his way back, cutting across corners and over lawns, and the strange pain is less overwhelming with his sneakers pounding against the pavement, the air sharper against his cheeks. He feels a faint lingering nausea that he just knows is Dustin’s, alongside the strange sensation of hands on his back and the sentiment of go unlock the door, Mike’s coming back that feels rough against the back of his throat.
Holy shit you’re out of shape, dude, Lucas’s voice is clearly ringing inside his head, somewhere just past his eardrums, and Dustin’s strangled amusement is clear as Mike manages to convey a sense of shut up without actually thinking the words.

Summary
Neither of them are unfamiliar with nightmares - one of the reasons why they’d chosen to dorm together in the first place was because Mike had a talent for being the only person who could calm Will down after them. It was a lot easier than having to explain to a total stranger why she woke up screaming bloody murder every so often, why Will sometimes stayed in the shower until the water ran out and, her skin raw and scorched pink because she didn’t feel clean, why she can’t stand the cold, or Christmas lights, or sleeping in total darkness. Totally normal stuff. Your typical well adjusted young adult, really.
“Fuck.” Mike croaks, covering her face with her hands.

He was trembling, hiding away from a monster and just as the big, lurking creature was about to get him, a black-haired boy with shining armour, a shield and a sword came to his rescue. He slain the monster as if it was a mere shadow, with one swing of his sword.

This feature doesn’t reveal the creatures’ location or number.
