Eddie’s done it now. Crossed a line. Hargrove genuinely looks like he might murder Eddie on the spot, and nobody is doing anything to stop him. He tries to struggle, tries to pry Billy’s arm off of his neck, but to no avail; that only makes him press down harder. Eddie’s lungs start to burn, his muscles growing weak, vision going dark. He’s completely fucked.
And then, a voice booms over the ruckus, from behind the crowd of jocks, causing everyone to look around to its source. It sounds vaguely familiar.
“Munson! That green piece of shit van yours?”Eddie's mouth gets him in serious trouble; thankfully, out of nowhere, Steve Harrington intervenes in a rather creative way.

Eddie is at a gritty little punk club he kinda loves, the music is loud, nobody bothers him, and the sales come easy. It would be difficult to make the night any better
Until he finds himself arguing with some hot punk. Was this better or worse? He wasn't sure yet
Eddie stretched his legs across the narrow kitchenette, propping his boots up on the fridge, effectively barring the guy's progress towards beer.
He couldn't help himself, he liked to look at his favorite combat boots in close proximity to very hot guys. It was a sickness Eddie enjoyed.
Punk kid looked out from under his thin strip of black hair, hands held up in an exaggeratedly annoyed demand for an explanation. The movement reminded Eddie of someone but he couldn't quite remember who. Someone annoying probably. The guy huffed without really turning to face him.
"We have a problem Dio?"
Eddie looked down at his favorite very awesome most beloved Dio t-shirt, suddenly absolutely outraged. How dare this hot shiny jerk besmirch his beloved Ronnie James Dio?!?

The lights go out. Steve keeps his eyes fixed just left of the thing, can just barely make out a shoulder and sort-of head in the light of the moon, and tries to swallow back the sickening feeling of being hunted. He wants to run for his house but he can’t. He can’t, because if he takes his eyes off the thing for even a second, he won’t know where it is, and that’s scarier than seeing it.
But then- then Steve’s vision blurs for just a moment too long, and when he blinks away the tears and looks, it’s gone.
Steve lunges for the house doors. When the patio lights flicker back on, the poolside is empty, and Steve Harrington is missing. No one notices.

It's not fair, the news he was given. He'll never outrun his violent teenage years. It's getting harder and harder to find value in himself with the extensive list of health issues he's accumulating.
He's dreading telling his professional-musician-boyfriend the news, there’s no way that’s gonna go well. Part of Steve’s appeal to Eddie is that Steve has always gone to all of his shows. Even before they started dating, he’d show up to their Hideout gigs and compliment Eddie on little moments of each performance that he enjoyed. Steve’s pretty sure it’s what won Eddie over in the end.
So what’s gonna happen when the very foundation of their relationship is pulled out from under them? Will Eddie go looking for someone else to listen to music alongside? Lord knows there are plenty of men who would die to be in Steve’s shoes.
Or: Steve Harrington is avoiding telling his professional-musician-boyfriend, Eddie, that he's going deaf because he's worried about what will happen when he does.

At the beginning of his rant, lecture, whatever, Hottie stares right at him. He has a really intense stare. Pretty brown eyes set in a prettier face with even prettier hair on top of his head. Eddie gets distracted by all that pretty and by trying to make his point.
And he doesn’t notice until halfway through that Hottie isn’t looking at him anymore. He’s looking at his friend.
Eddie looks at her, too. Looks at her confused and focused expression. Looks at her hands moving rapidly.

After a few months since Steve was diagnosed as hard of hearing, he’d gotten really good at lip reading. He was pretty subtle with it, so most of the time, nobody even noticed. He’d memorized the speech patterns of the people he was closest to, and could usually tell what they were saying even from far away. Except for one person. Eddie.
Eddie was theatrical and frantic in his speech. He talked fast. He had a habit of pulling his hair in front of his face and partially covering his mouth when he was anxious or excited. It was infuriating, and intriguing at the same time. Steve would glance down at Eddie’s lips frequently whenever they were talking. Sometimes, he’d just look from afar, studying how Eddie’s mouth moved when he talked. He wanted to figure it out. He had to. Even if it meant his eyes were always on Eddie even in group settings. If he couldn’t look away when Eddie smiled, watching how his eyes lit up and how the corners of his mouth always scrunched up in the same familiar pattern, It wasn’t his fault, was it? It was definitely only because he was determined to learn to read Eddie’s lips.
Nothing else. That was it.

He could just not go in, but the ice cream is very good, and something about the place makes it very easy to write a song, so he deals with the infuriating presence. What he doesn’t know is that they are both slowly falling for each other.
