first off. this is one of my favorite OP fics i've ever read and i've been mildly obsessed with it since i found it. i too love putting sanji through the tortures and watching him squirm and whimper and try to act normal (and have everyone watch on in horror). i especially love sanji wrestling with his new animalistic urges and trying to find a good balance (while blaming himself! it's delicious! i love self-flagellation!).
i also quite like the world building and effort put into fleshing out the plot! it's a wonderful addition to the story and really benefits the character development and characterization :o).

there is something to mituna and kurloz's interactions by this author that scratches an itch in me the same way pressing a bruise does. any other characterization pales in comparison at this point. it's a wonderful depiction of how hard boundaries turn into a maginot line with the right person (mituna) and how even when that line gets muddied to the point of destruction, kurloz just gives ground and redraws it in the sand (and not any more permanent than before). chefs kiss of maladaptation and dysfunction that has somehow found homeostasis.

i have always identified a little too strongly with dirk strider (to my displeasure, at first, and now to my long suffering fondness) but this fic picks up all of the characterization and mental knots we share and slapped me in the face with it. at multiple points i had to sit and stare at the wall after reading a line/paragraph. this fic really does emphasize how bro and dirk are two branches off the same tree that have grown at crooked angles from each other (instead of parallel) because of their environments and influences. i love the dialogue between these two verbally meandering assholes and the pick and peel at bro's psyche until it resembles nothing so much as an open, weeping sore, with the hint of healthy flesh underneath. incredibly enjoyable. maybe The Dirk Fic ever.

maybe my favorite scum villain series. I love the characterization and adjustments to the storyline, and how things snowball (in a very realistic manner) given the plot and characters. The writing is amazing.
