Found this fic because of a TikTok (animation, not edit) about Tim wanting to be like Jason with the "I want hair like yours, hands like yours, fingers that curl in the cold like yours, I want eyes to stare and to cry when I'm feeling scared like you" version of that vocaloid song with the robotic voice, I love it. I sure love projecting onto Tim and characters that pretend to be something/someone like yk, masking lmao
I imagined the whole thing like a comic, it was so vivid, the writing is great at giving you visual descriptions to do that on your own, it made it ten times better ❤️

Cozy af. I felt like I was transported to a ghibli movie.
It's very self indulgent because even though they're idiots they're a little bit more emotionally mature and Sasuke acts a little bit too much like a wet sad dog but like I'm not gonna call it ooc because I genuinely don't understand Sasuke's motivations and thinking process after the final battle so I have no idea what drives him, this might be canon for all we know because Boruto is not canon idc what anyone says.
So yeah, sad wet dog, not cat.
Because cat's are unrepentant, more like a dog that made a mess and is trying to make itself small and not threaning but also baring it's teeth, yk?Don't get me wrong, I love the yearning and the domesticity but he might be a little bit too much selfless here and all focused on Naruto, which idk dude once again, he might latch onto him as a coping mechanism because what else is there, also he's been ignoring that for basically ever so it makes sense BUT also like...way too wet sad dog, there's no fire in him.
It's very ideal and the healthiest outcome for them probably, it's not like Shinobi life prepares you for your future so while I've also always thought that Naruto should realize he doesn't wanna become the Hokage anymore because what he really wanted was being appreciated and having a family and stuff. I don't think they would just drop the Shinobi life like that, I don't even think they'll be allowed, whether it is because of politics or because of a threat or literally just a routine they can't just quit any minute, like I can imagine them feeling restless even after loosing one arm, they've always been moving and trying to improve and the body keeps the score, not even just like habits but also like they're bodies are literally built for that, going back to the dog analogy (god why did I keep coming back to it, it's so random) it's like having a high energy dog in a small house, he'd probably be happy and loved going out once a day but there will always be the want for something else, like those dog breeds that were bred for specific jobs and from time to time they fall into some behaviors accidentally because they kinda were made for that.

My cheeks hurt and I feel lighter in my chest, which is the effect of the fluff but also is not really fluff, kinda? Not sure, but it's the Batfam rescuing their other universe counterparts of their 'canon events', the fluff comes from so much brotherly love in both dimensions, one dimension is just better at expressing it, also the last chapter is very funny, that's why my cheeks hurt from smiling. Just a very feel-good fic of the 'what ifs' that sorta hurts because of what it could have been but in healing way

There's always a fic in every fandom where I go: this, this is my Bible.
And I think this might be it for me, might have to re-read one more time because I binged all of it in one day and then procrastinated Bruce's talk with Tim (at the end of the fic, literally procrastinated reading the last 1/5 of the last chapter) for like a week and a half (just like Tim would do lmao emotions and confrontation am I right?)
But this might be where I go to for inspiration, for reassurance and comfort and come back to it multiple times, like, where I derive my headcanons from, like yeah, I see your vision author and I not only agree with your headcanons but I want to adopt them and I think all of them are right, like not one or two like normal, where I go huh I like that one, but it happened to me every 3 seconds in this fic, not because they were anything revolutionary perse but because of the in depth explanation behind all of them and how connected and natural they all felt, amazing honestly. -

This is the chaotic sibling energy I've been craving on fics, as an only child this has given me the same reaction I've had when witnessing sibling interactions and being not exactly confused, more like, idk baffled? Like dude, why did you do that? And my friend would be like did what? Oh that? That's just how we treat each other
And it's never like threatening stuff, just really annoying weird things, it always baffles me how that's the expected dynamic.For me, people with siblings are sometimes like cats that gets the zoomies, they just have this random urge to annoy their siblings every few hours if they're under the same roof, either as a form of affection, acknowledgment or revenge, most of the time it's the three of them at the same time and I found it really cute despite how weird I think it is, feels like watching a documentary on social phenomenon or something, I love it
Besides that, this fic also made me think in how we need more male characters with "female" interests, like why do we have like twenty types of different tomboy flavors but we only get femboy as the only plausible way for a boy to be into girly things? Girly things slap! Like yoga, baking, decorating and shit, it's all really fun! And while I crave for the day those things are not seen as girly, I'm not deluding myself into believing we're close to that goal yet but we can start by having male characters just into this stuff, not as a subversion of tropes or as a way to show the classic bad guy with the heart of gold, Let random villains be into that stuff! Let random heroes be into that! People are still gonna try to use it as a sexuality confirmation but it's okay, they can claim them if they want, it's still getting to the general public one way or another and it's probably getting us a very small step forward into that future when things like knitting are not girly. If anyone's read this far thank you for reading my improv rant.
Also for future me reading my bookmarks: the rant was because Jason was into yoga and baking and I was so proud of him until I was like hold up, that's normal! Let's normalize that stuff!
Also I can see a lot of this happening like an animated scene and I love it

"Such a good written fic, took me by surprise because I was expecting angst but not of so high quality, I listened to this (on the train with headphones ofc, with the read aloud option on Google) on the way to a meet up with a friend because I'm weird like that and I was enamored with the way you described Tim every time, I was unnerved surrounded by lots of people and you deserve your flowers for that. I'm sure lots of people have talked about the reveal and the plot so I'm not saying much about that but I also didn't see that coming, that was also really well though out and I'm just in awe still, keep up the good writing because this was amazing!"

This is one of my favorite Batfam fics definitely, the last chapter was written so beautifully that I couldn't choose to copy and paste here something for my bookmarks because then I would post like half a chapter worth of quotes I liked
Reference for future me: this was so good it legit had me shaking at one point, also Tim is a little bit insane (/affectionate) and I love that, the aftermath was everything, most fics fall flat in the resolution but in this case it was so satisfying and kept escalating in the right ways to tug on my heart strings but without being condescending or pitying towards Tim, just normal Tim appreciation, he has flaws and gets mad and I love him as much the batfam does, how can you not love the little creep?
Edit: note to self, if you ever get good at drawing gore please please please draw some scenes from this, maybe one of the impaling like you imagined it: with one of those red construction beams
Or if it's not gore then Jason confronting Tim about his deaths and how he does lie to himself about them -

Bookmarking mostly so that it's easier to find if I ever need to look it up, the body swap with the muscle memory and habits/addictions, physical reactions of each body was a great concept and the writing was insanely good so better to be safe than sorry and bookmark it
For future me: if you're planning a re-read you better know that the fluff/resolution it's very short and kind of underwhelming not because of the writing but because of how short it is compared to the rest of the fic and while we get multiple povs of the characters, we don't really get to see the main couple interacting much after the feelings revelation so the povs feel at times like being taunted in a (not) fun way but I still loved the povs and insights so like, still worth a re-read but just don't read if you want fluff of this pairing
