Will saw him as he came around the front of the truck, holding a guitar case and smiling goodnaturedly at Hop. He said something, but Will couldn’t tell you what it was. He had been expecting someone older, maybe a little more grizzled or worn down. But this boy was young, maybe Will’s age, and….breathatking. That was the only word for it. He was tall and thin, with a dark mop of curls falling over his dark eyes and sharp cheekbones. He reached for the duffle bag from Hop with hands that were long and elegant. Will was staring, he knew he was staring, but he couldn’t stop. It wasn’t long before the boy noticed too. He caught Will’s eye and held out one of those perfect hands.
“Hi, I’m Mike.”

Summary
Martyn awoke with a sharp, shuddering breath, his lungs filling almost unwillingly as he shot upright. His body was on fire, the sensation flowing through his veins and culminating in his stomach like a stab wound. Which didn't seem all that far from the truth as he considered it.
“Welcome back to the land of the living." A voice came from his side, and he whipped his head around to see Grian crouching next to him. "How are you feeling?”
Martyn raised a shaking hand to eye level, turning it back and forth. It was covered in blood that glittered in the moonlight, nearly black. There was a violent wound torn into his stomach, barely held together by threads of golden magic.
“Did…am I dead?” He looked up at Grian, a feeling of dread pooling in his stomach along with the blood. “Did Scar kill me?”
“Yep.” Grian extended a hand to help him up. “And you were dead, but you’re back now. So welcome back to the land of the living.”

Summary
Grian shifted again—another small movement, a thoughtless roll of his hips as he resettled. The bed creaked faintly beneath them, the sound sharp in the hush. Grian froze for half a second, then relaxed, deciding it was probably fine. If anything, it helped the illusion.
Scar, on the other hand, went very still.
His jaw tightened, eyes closing briefly as he took a slow breath, hands remaining firmly—but respectfully—at Grian’s sides. When he spoke again, his voice was even, almost too controlled. “Hey,” he said gently, breathlessly, “maybe— maybe don’t move like that.”
Grian blinked. “Oh—sorry.” He flushed, immediately trying to still himself, hands pressing into Scar’s shoulders for balance. “Did I—?”
Before Scar could answer—
BANG BANG BANG.
