“I’ve been teaching Holly how to draw,” he says, watching for any disapproval on Mike’s face, but it remains frustratingly blank. He takes a deep breath. “You’re welcome to… join us, tomorrow, if you want.”
Mike’s eyes widen by a fraction, as if he hadn’t been expecting that. “...Cool.”
Will’s hands clench subconsciously, a faint sense of deja vu coming over him. “Cool.”

In the 18 months between the Upside Down cracking Hawkins in two and their disastrous Crawl, Will starts drawing again. It’s a familiar feeling, sitting in the basement with some paper and a box of crayons, an ever-curious Wheeler looking over his shoulder.
Except, it’s not Mike. No, Mike hasn’t been talking to him unless completely necessary, which sucks, but Will’s gotten used to it. No, it’s little Holly, just as sweet as Will remembers and totally captivated with his art.
It’s refreshing, at least, to have someone look at him with stars in their eyes for once. He just hopes Mike doesn’t find out; it’ll give him another thing to be weird about.
TLDR: Five times Will teaches Holly how to draw, and one time it’s Mike who takes his lessons to heart.

“What? No! I mean — I just meant—“ said Mike, struggling with the words, “I… I mean… who is it?” he turned back to Hugo, “Can we know their name? It might be somebody we know already.”
Will frowned, “I hope it’s not,” he said, “I don’t like anybody we know enough to marry them — except our friends, obviously, but that’s different.”
Hugo, if it was even possible, looked somehow immensely more excited by these words, “I can’t tell you who it is,” he giggled, “That’s a really big spoiler.”
Mike Wheeler’s son arrives in Hawkins with no explanation, snapped back in time entirely by accident — and he latches on to none other than Will Byers. If only they all knew why.

Summary
As they lay in bed, a mirror of that storming April night, Will can’t help but turn his head to look at Mike. When he turns, he finds Mike’s already watching him, his eyes so incredibly soft. Holly lays between them, her head resting against Mike’s chest. Mike strokes his sister’s hair and all Will feels is love bubbling up his throat. He’s wanted this, he always has, and somehow he does. He doesn’t want this to end.
Mike looks at him gentle and fond, his face creased in a way he’s never seen before, he whispers, “I’m glad you’re here.”
Will looks at Mike with love in his eyes and want in his heart, it’s supposed to feel wrong but he can’t deny himself this, “I’m glad I’m here too.”

Summary
The first time it happens, Will classifies it as a little accident.
When he wakes, the morning sun is burning through the window onto their faces, and Mike’s cursing as he stands to close the curtains, stumbling all the way.
“Scoot over,” he grumbles, voice dry, and for a second Will can’t do anything other than sigh like a lovesick idiot. It’s a second too late for Mike, because he grumbles more words Will doesn’t catch under his breath and then physically pushes Will towards the wall to lay beside him, arm over Will’s middle. A second of silence passes, then Mike sighs, only to whine: “Fuck, my head hurts.”
Will can’t help it: he breaks down laughing, much to Mike’s offense.
