SEQUEL TO AFTER THE CHERRY WINE
‘I will not! You can’t make me, Coach.’
Ilya’s voice echoed out of the locker room and into the corridor. Shane had only excused himself a few minutes earlier to go to the bathroom in peace and was returning to the sound of Ilya clearly in some sort of distress.
At the doorway, he nodded at Bood. ‘What’s going on?’
‘Roz won’t take off his wedding ring.’

Summary
‘Hey, are you on your way?’
Ilya squeezed his eyes up tight. ‘I cannot come, Hollander. I-... I’m sorry, my daughter-...’
Hollander heard the worry in his voice and immediately asked, ‘Is she okay? Is she sick? Hurt? Rozanov, talk to me.’
‘No, she is fine,’ Ilya snapped out of his momentary stupor. ‘It is-... Svetlana is not-... I just can’t come to hotel tonight. I’m sorry.’
‘You don’t have to be sorry,’ Hollander said softly. ‘Can I help?’
‘No, I’m-... I’m fine.’
‘Ilya?’
Ilya’s breath caught in his throat.
Hollander - Shane - had never called him by his first name before. They didn’t do that. It was too close to friendship. Too close to something that they could not be.
Even if Ilya often found himself daydreaming of a world in which they could.
A heartbeat passed between them. Then another. Finally Ilya whispered, ‘Yes, Shane?’
‘Let me help. Please?’
———
When his daughter’s mother can’t take care of her, Ilya is forced to turn to Shane for support.

Summary
‘Was he? What you needed?’
‘No. I mean, sort of. But…’
‘Did he hurt you?’
Shane didn’t answer. Instead, his gaze dipped to the floor.
The blood drained from Ilya’s face. ‘Shane?’
‘Um.’
Ilya’s fingers dug into the desk he was leaning on. He watched Shane’s face. That beautiful fucking face. The one he had to force himself not to stare at on the ice in case he got distracted. The face he had known since he was eighteen years old. Whether Shane believed it or not, there were few people who could read his face like Ilya Rozanov could.
And he was reading the truth on it now.
‘Fuck. He hurt you?’
//
In which Ilya finds out that Shane's other sexual experiences have not been as safe or pleasurable as he deserves and decides to make things right.

Summary
When Shane was displeased with Ilya, there was a certain intensity in his speech that called to Ilya like a siren song, dragging him to an early grave with its vehemence. His voice would pitch higher, bossy and prissy and so stridently righteous it should be intolerable.
But Ilya was, for all intents and purposes, a whore. And nothing made him harder than his husband putting him in his place.
