This time Damian feels the tears welling in his eyes, and he turns toward Richard before they fall and lets them soak into the fabric of Richard’s jacket. As Richard holds him, Damian thinks, Oh. Perhaps this is the use of another person, to soak up your tears before they could fall, to cover your soft and vulnerable spots. Perhaps they were never meant to do any of this alone.

And so Damian tears the page out, and on the next one he writes: Video games. Reality television shows. French omelettes. Other omelettes, when we have the time. Bothering Jason. Chess. Dogs.
Brothers.
He keeps writing until he runs out of space. He surprises himself by how easy it is for him to fill the page.

Tim cannot stop thinking about the damn shirts. He hasn’t had a real conversation with Kon in weeks. Every time they start talking, all Tim can think about it the stupid shirt mystery and then Kon gets a funny look on his face and makes an excuse to leave. Bruce even asked the other day if anything was wrong, because Tim had been so distracted lately.

“So many…” Bruce whispers. Tim can tell from the pain in his voice that Bruce understands the seriousness of Tim’s investigation. Bruce is probably already asking the same questions that Tim asked himself all those weeks ago. It’s remarkable how alike they are.

Tim felt himself shrivel up under Jason’s stare. “Um, live in your walls?”

Summary
After a particularly rough Arkham breakout a few buildings were shut down for rebuilding, or, in his case, chemical cleaning. This normally wouldn’t be an issue, he has three safehouses. His main one- aka his apartment- was covered in fear gas, his other safe house was half collapsed by bane having a tantrum, and his third was commandeered by Dick when the man had come to visit and help with the Arkham escapee’s.
So- That leaves Tim back to the manor. He isn’t complaining about being with Alfred or Bruce, he just isn’t psyched about Damian. The brat had been nothing but mean to him Tim was sick of it.

“Can I hug you?” He blurts before he can swallow the words. In lieu of a response Damian leans into his side. Tim wraps his arms securely around the smaller.

Tim’s dad shakes his head with a fond smile when Tim plays his music too loud and doesn’t hear when he is called down. Tim’s dad is cool, and laughs a lot.

“Okay.” As much as Tim regrets to admit it, the confirmation settles something in his chest. “Thank you. I love you.” He mutters just before the call goes out. Tim sits at the booth for close to a minute before stumbling to the convenience store and tucking into a ball in the corner, in clear view of a camera, and waits.

“Tim?” Bruce still sounds stressed. Tim’s head lulls, sandwiching the phone to his ear.
“Hey.”
“I love you too.” Bruce immediately bursts, as if the words were burning his throat and he needed them out, Tim feels his face heat up for no real reason, he hadn’t been expecting Bruce to have heard him, “And I’m on my way okay. I’m so sorry I’m not there with you. But I’m- 30 minutes away.”
