Summary
The modern AU where they're all ostensibly studying and hunting ghosts, but mostly they're just assholes with a lot of feelings.
The stories are more-or-less ordered chronologically. I would say most of the longer ones can be read on their own, but some of the ficlets might not make a ton of sense without context. I try very hard not to start posting larger works until the whole thing is done, so there are occasionally months-long breaks that end with another 40,000 words of fic posted all at once.
Please don't be intimidated out of commenting just because the story is old, I swear to god I love comments on the older fics and cherish them all, even though I'm not always great at replying ♥

Summary
Years after Sam's disastrous run for Congress, years after walking away from the Santos White House, Sam slides into a long, quiet breakdown. He quits his job and finds himself abandoning his life in Chicago to seek out Will Bailey, who has taken a job teaching in the middle of nowhere in Iowa.
After years of slipping into obscurity and teaching at a tiny liberal arts college in the rural midwest, Will is surprised to discover Sam Seaborn at his door, lost and nearly silent. He offers Sam his spare room and the space to figure himself out, despite the fact he very much wishes that Sam was sharing his room instead.
Anyway, they fall in love.

Trent Crimm has always had a bit of a thing for Ted Lasso, although ethically he certainly has not. Now that he is seated up close, that bit of a thing might be a bit bigger than he was prepared for. It’s a shame Ted is a straight man from the Midwest.

The point is (he thinks, only slightly berating himself over his ill-advised glass of tasteless airplane wine, en route from Cincinnati to—) that no one asked him to spend a week with the New England Revolution, or a week and a half bouncing between the New York Red Bulls and New York City Football Club, or eight days with FC Cincinnati, or two weeks (two weeks, Crimm? Are you sure about this?) with Sporting Kansas City.
In which Trent has an extremely valid excuse to end up in Kansas City for two weeks, because, like, "sports journalism" and "articles" and "long-form research." Mm-hmm. He's totally writing a very objective and thorough account of "soccer" in America, or at least that's the pitch that got him sent around the country for several months.
And then he skives off with one Ted Lasso.

And, well. At least no one is looking at Ted anymore.When Ted is unexpectedly pulled into a charity auction and Trent bids on him to prevent a public panic attack, speculation arises as to the nature of their relationship. Obviously, the solution is to lean into a fake dating scheme.
