Fact number one: Giulia is going to be on the train for Genova in two days. She's going back home--because Genova is her home, apparently, and you're still grappling with the idea that there are places outside your island and Portorosso, BIG ones, they keep telling you, all over the globe--where she'll spend the next nine or so months going to school.
Fact number two: You and Luca now own your very own Vespa. It's not road-ready yet, and it might not be for a while, which is fine actually because it turns out now that the Paguros aren't going to send Luca away to the bottom of the ocean, you're going to have to whittle them down into giving him permission to run away with you.
Fact number three: That's not even really a plan that makes sense, if you think about it for more than a few minutes at a time.
Fact number four: You haven't forgotten that Luca doesn't actually want to run away with you anymore. He's just pretending he never said it.

The afternoon heat pressed down on Portorosso in a way that made even the sea feel heavy. Luca lay on the flat stone near the harbor, staring at the pale sky as if answers might drift across it like clouds. Boats rocked softly against the docks, their ropes creaking, a sound so familiar it had stopped meaning anything. Alberto sat a few feet away, back against a stack of nets, legs stretched out, whittling at a piece of driftwood with a dull knife he had found somewhere and decided was now his.
They had been quiet for a long time.
It’s not as comfortable as you think.
My love, some things are better kept silent. You better bite your tongue.

Luca watched the back of Alberto’s half- illuminated golden mass of curls. He took a few steps back. He knows it was his fault. He has no right to argue with him. “Okay.” It escaped his lips. “I'll go.”
Hesitating, Luca began to walk to the wall of the tower to lower himself down. But as his eyes looked up to meet the horizon of the night, he was met with the town of Potorosso in the far distance. The unmistakable colours of the various houses only sweetened that Italian air, that the glowing yellow lamps provided. He saw him and Alberto eating ice cream, Him and Alberto devouring their trenette at Massimo’s house, Him and Alberto sleeping side by side in Guilia’s hideout. Him, Alberto and Guilia training for the Potorosso Cup. Then Him and Guilia staring in horror at the sea monster Infront of them at the shore.
I rewrote the tower scene from Luca, not because it was bad but because it was beautiful, and I wanted to make something similar but this time, Luca stays and they attempt to talk it out.

Summary
Five years after the summer Alberto Scorfano met his two best friends, he’s proud to say he’s already well-versed in how to human. Sailing a boat? Check. Handling harbour market sales? Check. Using his sea monster form to help Signor Marcovaldo collect the best barnacles? Check. Other knowledge has eluded him, though—for example, the appropriate name for the way his heart races every time Luca calls him “caro”.
When June of 1968 arrives to Porto Rosso, and Giulia and Luca return from Geneva with troublesome news, Alberto wishes things would stay as they were in 1963. But as the Underdogs work together to help Giulia avoid the rigid expectations placed on her by her mother, and life in Porto Rosso gets turned upside down once more, he can't help wondering whether sometimes changes might be the start of something better.

Ever since that damn film had come out, Nico had been tormented by literally everyone he knew. Suddenly, everyone seemed to care about Nico and his past, all of the sudden remembering that “Oh, wait! You’re from Venice aren’t you! You’re Italian! Just like Luca! And Alberto! HOLY SHIT, Nico, are you a sea monster too?!?!?” because clearly, being from Italy and happening to live near water made you a sea monster according to the religious text of a stupid children’s cartoon.
The fact that they were all true was completely irrelevant.
Or.....
Nico is a sea monster in hiding. Percy happens to find out. Confessions are made and sex is had.
