After the events of Good Things Come.Astarion and Tav have solidified their roles in the Underdark with the other Spawn, as well as in Faerun. They realize there is still much more they can do to stop another Vampire lord, and help another of their Companions in the process.

Except Tav beat Astarion there and reached him first, and a wet SMACK sounded as Astarion's chest collided with her shoulder blades where she stood solidly between them.
For a moment, Astarion only saw red.
For a moment, Astarion heard nothing but the roaring, rushing sounds in his adept ears - that of the rolling sea, and Tav's blood catapulting through her arteries with her own anger.
Astarion's eyes focused and traced her form and up her extended arm, his lip twitching with the beginning of a snarl at the action that had been denied him, but the scent of Gale's blood hit his nose then. The odor was strong despite the pervading smell of salt in the surf that lapped along the shore at their feet.

Wally never expected to come back to Happy Harbor. Not after his near drowning in the sea caves by his childhood home — which inevitably led to his parents’ divorce. But here he was twelve years later, fresh out of grad -school and moving back into his late father’s old house.
A summer spent in the sleepy town he grew up in on the Rhode Island coast should have been idyllic. A quiet three months working in his uncle’s aquarium as he figured out what the hell he wanted to do with his life. But, it turns out, finding a siren tangled in a fishing net at the bottom of the bay would only be the beginning of his troubles.
What happened to the poor Nereid who now haunted Wally’s thoughts? Why couldn’t he shake the feeling that their fates were more tangled than the net he’d cut away from its beautiful tail? And who was the so-called expert called in by the counties Game-Warden to investigate the new predator making waves in the Rhode Island Sound?
The further Wally dug, the deeper the mystery took him — and someone had swim to the bottom of it.

"Newbie, you don't know this place like I do. I've seen every outcome introducing mers to each other can yield, good and bloody. I've got the scars from managing it. Trust me when I say, that fish ain't half as mean as he seems. Stick the shark in there, give it some time, and he won't be at the top of the food chain."
"But is that a good idea? They're critically endangered," she emphasized as he lit up a cigarette.
"Nobody's seen a lionfish species in centuries, and now we got two in our lap. One of which is very sociable. The only compatible breeder is the shark," he explained before taking a long drag and puffing out the smoke. "Besides, he's the only one that brute might not kill if Typhoon likes him."

You only wanted a momentary escape, it didn't matter how as long as you found a way to be free when no one was looking.
But... If you were told you'd be stuck in the dark abyss, living in a cave lacking in privacy, with a Jellyfish mer, a Shark mer, and a mer that's of a species you never even heard of, you're not too sure you would have taken that risk.

phainon is the twin brother of the king who is sent away to die at sea. mydeimos is the siren who saved him, who sings to lure his victims and kisses them like death's final embrace. this is a story of what it means to love the sea in all of its beauty, and all of its terror.
