And there they were, a couple hundred feet below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, surrounded in a comical bubble of air, breathlessly staring at each other.
She looked at him, soaking in his appearance, reconciling it with the boy she used to know. He had the same messy blonde curls and awkward height. He was tanner, and just bigger, like the rest of his body had finally caught up with his height. His arms were more muscular– all of him was more muscular, God– and he had a tattoo brandished on his bicep, peeking out underneath his armor.
She sighed, silently to herself, as her heart tried to regulate itself. He looked like Percy.
Without thinking, she attacked. She had dropped her dagger, but she still had her fists and the element of surprise. She punched him, again in the gut and then judo flipped him, pulling her body weight fully on top of him.
She breathed, her face an inch away from his.
“Who are you?” she spat out angrily.
“Good to see you too, Wise girl,” was all he said, grinning up at her.~
After almost two and a half years of searching, Annabeth finally finds Percy– except he is nothing like how she remembers.

"No need to thank me for not being Hera," Amphitrite dismissed. Percy took a sip of tea. "That is what you meant, isn't it?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. For once, Percy learned from his mistakes and stayed quiet, though he did give her a bashful smile to confirm the sentiment. "Hm. Well, either way, I owe you thanks. Not many children would agree to spy on their father for me."
Percy put the cup down. "I'm not spying on him," he reasoned. Amphitrite scoffed. "I just happen to be in many of the places he is when he's in the mortal world." A long pause followed, and Percy rolled his eyes. "Yes, he was seeing a mortal woman. Her name is Lea."
"You owe me twenty of your mortal dollars, child."
Percy bitterly slapped the paper bill on the table between them.

Even without knowing what was going on, Annabeth remembered staring at the crystal and the water inside with awe, her heart fluttering, as if realizing the significance of the moment.
“Please,” the woman had told her, “keep him safe for me, okay? No matter what, keep him safe.”
It made no sense, but Annabeth had found that she didn’t need to understand everything to accept the necklace from the woman.
Annabeth had closed her little fingers around the warm crystal. “Okay.”

Percy glanced down at the scorpion once more. He couldn’t open his pen. He couldn’t cut it. He wasn’t sure what he could do to save himself in this situation. He would die here—killed by Luke and this stupid scorpion, and they’d find his body later, not knowing what had happened.
How could he let this happen?
“The gods—you’re right,” said Percy. “They should have been overthrown ages ago.”

When Luke threatened to kill him with the scorpion, Percy decided to try and trick him into believing he wanted to side with him and Kronos. And, well, if that worked... well, he could just stay by Luke's side and warn his friends about what was to come, right? That is, without actually telling his friends that he wasn't actually betraying them all.

“Shut up,” Annabeth spat. A sneer grew as she looked down on the goddess. She would’ve tortured them and fed them to the ‘night’, which would've destroyed their souls and stolen any chance of a happy afterlife. Why should they feel sorry that Akhlys fucked with the wrong demigods?
“Percy,” she began, eyes darting back and forth between him and the goddess, “what happens if you squeezed her ichor as hard as you could?”
He frowned for a second, fingers twitching as he sifted through Akhlys’ blood, going off the wail she made. He blinked and nodded to himself as he found his answer. “I think it would…” he trailed off, meeting her eyes with a dark understanding.
“Do you want to?” asked Annabeth, gently taking his hands.
He smiled, warm and sweet with an edge of danger. “If you do.”
