Summary
The pain has become too much for Ilya Rozanov to carry. For years, he’s lived with grief that never really healed, loneliness that followed him from Russia to Boston to Ottawa, and the constant exhaustion of pretending he’s okay when he hasn’t been in a very long time. Hockey gave him purpose. Shane Hollander gave him love. But neither could silence the ache left behind by losing his mother or the growing belief that maybe it was time to see her again.
So one morning, after one too many days suffering in silence, Ilya decides he’s done fighting. He leaves behind a letter for Shane, swallows a bottle of pills, and waits for the pain to end. Unfortunately for him, he is loved far too deeply for the universe to let him go that easily.
When the Hollanders find him in time, Ilya is forced into something he never planned for: surviving. And surviving means psychiatric holds, therapy sessions, difficult conversations, and learning how to let people care for him without believing he’s a burden. Most terrifying of all, it means letting Shane see every ugly, broken piece of him he tried so desperately to hide.

Or: Ilya Rozanov attempts suicide, but the Hollanders love him too much to let him go quietly.

Summary
It has been two long years since Lilia and Silver Vanrouge had upset all of their lives. Two years since they had moved into the neighborhood, an overbearingly loving father and his incredibly frail son whom he poured his entire being into caring for. Two years since Leona, Cater, and Idia uncovered what was really going on behind the scenes.
Enter Malleus Vanrouge, the teenage boy who invades their lives with just as much chutzpah as Lilia had. His appearance reveals the devastating truth: what happened two years ago was only scratching the surface.

Summary
“Sveta thought you might like seeing me look pretty,” Ilya said, deliberately batting his eyelashes at Shane. He tilted his head as Shane approached, jutting out his bottom lip ever so slightly, the gloss catching the light and giving it a plumper appearance. He watched, feeling victorious, as Shane’s gaze flickered down to follow the motion. “She dressed me up for you. What do you think?”
Shane leaned down over Ilya, standing between where his legs spread as he sat on the edge of the bed. His hand rose, gently cupping his jaw—his touch was hesitant in a reverent way, like if his fingertips brushed too hard, he might ruin the beautifully painted canvas that was Ilya’s face.
“I didn’t know you could look so pretty,” Shane whispered, thumb lightly stroking over his cheek.
Svetlana does Ilya's makeup, and Shane likes it a lot.

Summary
Normally, when Shane sucked Ilya off, his eyes went hazy and faraway as though every second his mouth was full pushed him deeper into submission. Today, though, that look was nowhere to be found. Instead, Shane stared up at Ilya, eyes glistening with a sort of severity—like how he would glare at Ilya when he playfully tripped him while they were skating—that made Ilya throb. Shane’s eyes alone made it clear who was in charge, and Ilya, for once, felt no desire to challenge that.
In fact… he wanted to be obedient for Shane.

Summary
Ilya Rozanov is in love, closeted, catastrophically lonely, and apparently incapable of referring to Shane Hollander in present tense.
The Centaurs come to a- given the circumstances- reasonable conclusion.
Or:
Five times the Centaurs thought Ilya Rozanov was mourning his dead wife, and the one time they discovered his wife was actually Shane Hollander.
Shane, for the record, is alive and really confused. -

Summary
Shane can’t look at him. He can’t really look at anyone but he manages to lift his head and stare right back into Troy’s glistening eyes.
“I never had that advantage, Troy. I never got to take it out on anyone, for any of it. All the times I got on that ice to play some hockey and some… fuckwit idiot like Kent, or whoever was calling me slurs— whether they were gay ones or racist ones… I couldn’t just hurl them back and call it a day like you did.”
He swallows hard. He thinks he might be sick a little bit in his mouth.
“You know how fucking lucky you are? To have gotten away with it? They love you, Barrett. This team loves you! You’re fucking celebrated because you overcame this big, terrible thing but for me it’s—”
He thinks about his mom in that very split second. His beautiful, wonderful mom who’d coached him his entire life on how to be polite, how to be well behaved. How to answer to teachers the right way, to coaches, to cops to the press to the general public to his fucking teammates—
He looks away. The fight suddenly drains right out of him and he goes back to his bag.

Summary
To the hockey world, Shane Hollander is someone who can stay cool and collected under pressure. No one knows the effort that goes into appearing like that.
His methods are unconventional. He knows this. He refuses to admit it makes them wrong.
So why does he feel so ashamed when Ilya eventually finds out?
