Summary
The full weight of it will hit Dustin much later, when he’s older and far past the bounds of Hawkins and its billowing smoke. By then, his voice will have returned to its home in his chest, but just like every other part of him, it will never be the same. He’ll realize that he never should have seen Mike like that; not at that age, and not ever. But he can’t fully comprehend how young he is at twelve years old, and he will never feel young again.
Mike Wheeler steps off the edge of a cliff to save his friend. Jane Hopper, who does not yet know that she is Jane Hopper, arrives too late to save him. His landing creates a tidal wave for those who love him.
This is divided into three parts, rather than traditional chapters. Each one is self-contained, for the most part.

It was easy to recall how Mike had been as a child: vibrant, bold, and loyal to a fault. Somewhere, lost to time or playing endlessly on sun-flared memories, was a version of Mike Wheeler that cradled hand-crafted toys like treasure. It was the Mike who had spent days on the frontline searching for Will, who had thrown himself into fire to shelter a terrified stranger, who lived in waiting room chairs and the threadbare blankets of Jonathan’s house. Who had brought Will back from the brink when no one else could, and who had gifted a joy to him that Jonathan had never seen before. A Mike who cared, above all else. Golden-tinged light.
Mike and Will, and a thread of missed signs.

Summary
Jean Kirschtein is not entirely sure why they need someone to clean the pool when no-one ever seems to swim in the darn thing, but when his socialite mother just can't stop ogling the new pool boy, Jean realises she might not be the only one.
Apparently balancing a growing relationship with the freckled pool boy is harder than it looks, when coupled with a more than dysfunctional family life, a cheating scumbag for a father, and a seriously lonely existence.
An AU of equal measures fluff and angst featuring pool cleaning, roof-top smoking, lots of parental problems, and mainly shirtless Marco.

Summary
“We haven’t done this since middle school,” Will says, voice barely above a whisper.
“Huh,” Mike whispers back. “Yeah, guess not.”
A couple years ago, Mike read a National Geographic article about a phenomenon called the polar night. In the farthest north and south regions of the globe, there are weeks, sometimes months depending on how close you are to the poles, where the sun does not rise above the horizon, plunging the world into a perpetual nighttime. Living in such conditions, the article had explained, can affect one’s circadian rhythm, heighten issues with concentration and energy levels, and cause a spike in depressive symptoms among local populations. Some resort to using light therapy lamps to mimic the daylight.
It was only after the Byers moved away, all those years ago, that Mike began to understand what the prolonged absence of the sun can do to a person.
The Upside Down is gone, and everyone has made it out unscathed. In the aftermath of the not-so-end of the world, snowballs turn into avalanches. Sometimes it just takes time.
or: Mike gets into Brown, Will gets into RISD, and the friends-to-???-to-lovers slowburn that ensues.

Summary
In a world full of mind-possessing creatures and alternate dimensions, the fact that it’s nature that finally gets them is, if nothing else, ironic. Mike and Will are the one constant in a world where nothing ever stays the same. Maybe that’s why the universe never did manage to pull them apart.
Until, of course, the earthquake did.
Alternatively, Mike and Will are trapped at the Palace Arcade after an earthquake strikes Hawkins. They indulge in their last chance to make things right.
