Kerry Eurodyne needs help. He's down and out, all but given up hope. That is, until a mercenary with the personality and passion of a hurricane with the psyche of Johnny Silverhand lodged in his head turns up on his doorstep, with one sole goal: make him feel better. Who can blame him when he starts to catch feelings?
This fic is a rewrite of Kerry's quest line and beyond, meaning they establish a relationship much earlier, V's street rep is very high, and V and Johnny have a good relationship. I'm terrible at writing summaries, but I promise I'm doing my darndest to make this fic worth your time! :D
Title is a song lyric from 'Rushmere' by Mumford & Sons. An album very important to this fic :)

Summary
No amount of careful archival or rushing to preserve things can totally prevent lost media in the digital age. And yet sometimes, circumstances just so happen to fall into place in such a way that the lost media can be brought back. Maybe not from a master recording, maybe not quite the same as people remembered it, but it still represents a second chance at life even if it came from an unlikely place and was stored in a messy format.
Why give up and consign things to myth when possibilities like that exist?

Summary
A week before former nomad V met Jackie Welles, she was turned into a vampire. V struggles to cope with this while also starting a new life in Night City. He talks her into giving life as a vampire a try.
Jackie himself is eventually turned in the wake of the heist and sets out to help V find a solution to the Relic stuck in her head afterwards. In the meanwhile, neither are happy about the ride-along, Johnny Silverhand, while Jackie struggles to manage and accept his new state of being.
Vampire AU, Jackie and T-Bug live, Jackie helps V on main quests throughout the story.

Viktor Vektor’s day begins with a voicemail from a North Oak number, asking for an urgent house call. Despite his better judgment, he follows it to discover V and Johnny Silverhand, lying in a rockstar’s living room, wearing each other’s faces.
Weirdly, that isn’t the part he finds hardest to process. The fact that their illustrious superstar host, Kerry Eurodyne, who sells out world tours in microseconds and owns property on all eight continents, keeps flirting with him—that’s what he finds a bit unbelievable.

V didn’t remember walking out of Arasaka Tower. Or crashing through whatever hell they’d called a mission. Truth was, her memory of that week was a big black void. One second, she was moving, fighting, thinking—maybe screaming—and the next, nothing. Just fragments of pain, gnawing and blunt, the kind that didn’t care about timing or logic. Bits of herself showed up in flashes: her body aching in places she didn’t even know could hurt, her head pounding with a rhythm that didn’t match any music she’d ever heard, and the occasional echo of someone screaming her name. Romantic drama with cyberpunk antics going on, focuses on side characters more than main ones
Takes place alongside the main story and Phantom Liberty, then continues after that. Uses "Default Male V" and assumes he was a corpo that takes the Star ending. Den meets V and gets involved with his stuff sometime after Rebel! Rebel! but before Off the Leash.
It has some slight rewrites of some of the canon quests to fit my character specifically, but nothing too serious that changes things much (i.e., I tweaked Kerry's romantic quests to be from Den's POV instead of V's, but they're essentially the same)Check out my cyberpunk tumblr for more Den and Kerry content <3

Astris feeds from too many people, Kerry thinks. Too ravenous, crawling with need Kerry would much rather satiate than some stranger from the street.
What better way to fix it than take away Astris' means of feeding? Pull those pretty fangs from his jaw and soak in the fact that Astris can't feed from anyone but him anymore, in all those pained sounds he makes and the way his eyes so softly look up at him for praise.
