Summary
It was easy for Will to ignore the feelings when Mike wasn't around. Back then, in California, or during those months when the boys weren't talking.
But now, Mike was everywhere. Sending him smiles over the kitchen table when they accidentally met in the morning. Asking how Will has been. Sitting next to him on the couch instead of far on the other side. Those small things made Will go crazy.
Because now, there was no distance stopping the reality, no silence telling him that pushing Mike away was fixing whatever was wrong with him. Now, the barrier holding everything together broke, filling every second of Will's life with feelings he could no longer hold back from himself. He couldn't hide them anymore, convince himself that it was normal for friends to feel that way.

The party agrees to return to Hawkins to celebrate after their graduations. But a sudden appearance of a ghost from Will's past makes him start to question everything he thought he knew to be true.

Central to this is Mike Wheeler, who is tortured by his own repression, both internally and externally. He refuses to let his fear or silence take control of his and Will's story, even as the dangerous truth threatens to shatter their world.
The Core Four are central to the story; Eleven embraces her emotional maturity and becomes shaped by loss rather then raw power and the Upside Down becomes increasingly invasive as the story progresses.
This is a story about choosing the truth over the safety of lies, sacrifice without the glory and what it means to actually survive.

Summary
Neither Mike or Will have an idea why the other hasn’t spoken to them in a month. After defeating Vecna things were supposed to go back to normal, but they didn’t. Things have shifted leaving the boys more confused than they have ever been.Then a snow storm hits and a few snowballs later the puzzle pieces fall into place.

“Whatcha got there?” His line of sight now shifting from Will’s face to the sketchbook in his hand. Will was frozen in fear, not sure what to say without piquing his curiosity further.
“Um, just a practice sketch book I have been using to work on my lighting.” It wasn’t a lie, at least.
“What are you drawing?” Mike’s voice had a hint of teasing in it now and he tilted his chin up as if to say 'what on earth could you be finding inspiration from in my mom’s dining room'?
“Oh you know, just odds and ends around the room…” Will heard his voice come out a little too high pitched and he knew it was way too incriminating. He watched in horror as Mike pushed his chair back and stood up, posturing with the obvious intent to cross the space between them and seize the book from Will’s clammy hands. Will slammed the book shut and pressed it against his chest, crossing both arms over it as he stood up to back away from the boy he was just drawing, who was now wearing the mischievous face of a fat cat hunting a delicious canary. He totally had to suspect Will was drawing him, which was something he hadn’t openly shared with him since that godforsaken painting.

“I guess I just thought I upset you- Y’know?” Mike asks softly, turning back to face Will. “You seemed more…distant than usual and I- I didn’t want it to be because of me.” Will's heart drops. Is he actually this stupid? Does he think he can’t lie once to his face about how he feels?
“But- if I ever do..you have my full permission to put me in my place okay? I mean it.” He pauses, looking between Will's eyes and lips, is Will shaking? Mike immediately looks back up at his eyes. “I mean it Will.” he says more firmly. “You can- yell at me..and- and force me to sit down and accept my bullshit and- apologize a million times—just..anything I do wrong, just please..please let me know.” He whispers the end like a prayer. Like if he speaks too loud it might just scare Will away.

Summary
In 1983, Hawkins buried a body they thought was Will Byers. When he was found alive a week later in a farmhouse cellar, the town didn't know how to handle him. He was a living contradiction to a funeral they already had and the world had moved on without him.
