Charlie moves even closer, until their noses are touching and Nick has to close his eyes to stop Charlie’s face from going blurry. “I can treat you better than her,” Charlie whispers, hotly, like he believes it with every fibre of his being, and he’s trying to convince Nick to believe it, too. “When you’re ready,” Charlie continues, thumbs running over Nick’s cheekbones roughly, “I’m here.”

This is a quiet and sad little
one-shotstory told from the POV of Olly about an encounter with David after the First World War. There are flashbacks and mentions of death, but nothing graphic. It takes place in a period when sex between men was illegal, hence the Homophobia tag, but there is only one instance of homophobic language in the fic, as well as some realities of what it was like to be queer back then (not representative of all experiences). If any of this is not for you, please take care of yourself and go read something that suits you better.Update: this is no longer a one shot!
There is now a second chapter from David’s POV that takes place after the first.This somehow turned into a four part story. It’s done now.
