Summary
Merlin and Arthur were in a steady standoff. It began when Merlin asked Arthur to take Aithusa with him to his council meeting, and Arthur declined in his prattish way. One thing led to another and now both of them were on opposite sides of the table, shooting daggers at each other through their eyes. If looks could kill, both would be dead, and we would be spared the sexual tension in the room. Unfortunately, or fortunately for us, looks can’t kill, and hence, the standoff.

He’s a few feet away from UA’s gates when he proceeds to trip over his somehow magically untied shoelace and stub his toe roughly on a rock. He thinks, Fuck my life, as he hops around in a miserable, one-footed circle of pain.
He proceeds to almost fall over as a voice that is definitely not his echoes in his mind. What?
What? Izuku thinks back automatically, just as baffled as the voice.
Who... the voice stammers. It’s masculine but young, maybe somewhere around Izuku’s age. Izuku and the voice appear to have the same realisation at the same time.
There’s someone in my head! -dammit what was that demon’s Art?- oh my gosh how the hell- wouldn’t it be cancelled when I killed him? Is this a curse?- stupid snack runs, I’m never leaving my room again. What quirk would even- what is going on?

They were finally free. The sky had returned to its natural blue, the ground closed up, and the fog of black smoke no longer hung over Hawkins. Mike had to keep reminding himself of that fact. Everything was perfect.
Maybe too perfect.
OR
Post season 5 fix-it, where everyone was Vecna'ed and the world did "end," and now they have to figure out how to get back home. But the way to get home might suck more than if they were to stay in the messed up, distorted version of Hawkins. At least for Mike.

Summary
Four years after Hawkins, Will Byers has built a steady life in New York and Mike Wheeler has a half-finished manuscript, too many quiet regrets, and a habit of showing up anyway.
After a wedding and breakup keep them all in the same orbit long enough that there’s nowhere to hide behind and Mike is forced to deal with things he’s left out of the manuscript- especially where Will is concerned. After all, the truth always comes out in the end, and Mike has stepped over things for too long.
Canon-compliant post-epilogue story that final talks about all the gates (in my heart, this is what happens.)
