All of Spoke's frantic energy came to a screeching halt. The words died on his tongue. His hands stopped their constant movement.
"Oh," he said quietly.
Mapicc's ears twitched at his voice, but he didn't look up. If anything, he curled tighter into himself, that whining sound getting quieter like he was trying to hide it. Trying to be small. Trying to disappear.
Spoke stood frozen in the doorway for a long moment, his mind suddenly racing in an entirely different direction. He'd been ready for chaos, for laughter, for causing problems on purpose. The void was still thrumming through him, eager and restless, begging him to move, to run, to flicker.
But Mapicc was crying.

“Ugh — you’re quite the tough one,” Saps groaned. The gun creaked between the vampire’s teeth as he strained against the vampire’s grip. The creature’s breath smelled like a disastrous cacophony of rust and wet earth, its bloodied fingers digging into his soldiers hard enough to bruise even through the padded coat. Saps could feel the cold press of the muzzle against the vampire’s tongue, and he could also taste gunpowder and sweat in his own mouth. One wrong movie, and he’d either lose the gun or his fingers.

A commission goes wrong, resulting in Saps struggling to fight back a powerful vampire.
Luckily (or unluckily, it's anyone's guess), Flux is always there to be Saps's savior.

Branzy had passed out, roughly at the same time as when Clown had started choking him out with the handle of his axe. It seemed the sight of him going limp in the jester’s arms had finally convinced his teammates that Clown meant business.
They’d seemed relatively willing about the ransom, at least. He just needed a few days of quiet, really, and having their teammate at his mercy should do to keep them off his back. It was a civil arrangement. He needed to regear after a few too many deaths, tensions were too high for him to just hightail off to a farm, no one had to get hurt in this.
Clown thinks Branzy will be an easy hostage for both of them. He is wrong.

A growl coming deep within Saparata's throat echoes the room. It has a not-so-hidden tint of desperation, maybe of frustration. His grey, big eyes find Fluixon's slender lavender ones. They have bit of a puff, probably a mix of crying and sleep deprivation. Fluixon opens his mouth a couple times, not having the energy to even breathe. The reply comes with a quiet, poor whisper.
