"You bet." The hero grinned slightly and shoved him to the portal. "Now go!"
The last thing he heard before the swirling light overtook him was an earthshaking roar.

Ponyboy was running. He always loved running, he was on the track team after all. Running made him feel free, as if none of his problems mattered. Well now Pony had a lot of problems, and the feeling of wind on his face as he ran far away from the burning remnants of the abandoned church was doing nothing but intensify the feeling of guilt that was threatening to consume him. Yet he still ran. It was all he could do now. But after he got away, he would change his name and never have to run away again. Not from police, not from socs, not from anybody. That was the thought that comforted him as he ran from the scene of his friends untimely deaths, the embodiment of his guilt and regret. Little did he know how wrong he was. For no matter where he was or what name he called himself, he would always be followed by misfortune.
