Sometimes, Varka thinks of it like a curse. That all his pleasures should be threaded with discomforts; stabbing lights and painful noise, wearing him down like water wears away the stone, each instance near unnoticeable, not visible until the cavity has already formed, leaving him hollow.
It's been a long time since he met someone who eases the weight, rather than add to it.
OR: Three times Flins helps Varka — unbeknownst to the man himself — and the first time out of many that Varka returns the favor.

Summary
His thoughts feel slow and syrupy in the heat, but as Varka takes Prune into the shallow parts of the water, the girl shrieking with delight at the sensation of waves lapping at her chubby legs, Flins watches with a smile.
The little life they used to dream about is now out in the world and discovering its wonders. Her laugh when Varka dangles her over the water, her delighted shrieks when sand gets stuck in her toes, the look of wonder on her face as she spots fishes, all making up parts of this new life together, no longer as lovers, but as a family.

Summary
With fewer internal organs taking up space inside his body, it takes longer than expected for a baby bump to show, and Flins grows increasingly miffed as more days pass without one. He’d hoped to tell their friends around the time it became visible, but the bump is auspiciously missing.
For the first time in a long, long while, Flins laments his own nature.
“If you weren’t a succubus, there wouldn’t even be a baby”, Varka tries to comfort him, but while his physical symptoms are few, his emotions are in constant uproar, and such sound logic does little to deter him.

At first, Varka thinks it's a joke, but Flins looks way too genuine. He chuckles awkwardly, confused.

“I do not believe hilichurls celebrate the holiday”, Flins remarks, standing a few feet behind Varka. His eyes are on the surrounding environment rather than the cart. “They must be nearby. Stay here, I’ll handle them.”

Fae are not made for restraint. They are hunger given shape - want that has outlived kingdoms, need that sharpens rather than dulls with age, the deep, possessive drive to claim and keep and know every true name until the world itself bends around the knowing. Flins had been that creature once without apology. Ownership had been as natural as breathing. Obsession was the norm.
Yet now, with the face of this broad capable man who gave his name with absolute carelessness the night they first met and saved Flins from his own lack of focus during battle, the instincts wake as if they never slept at all. The same man who now sits on his kitchen table, trousers pulled down past his knees, as if he is supper and Flins is a starved man. His instincts rise in an agonizing song of need, raw and wordless. Flins wants. He needs. He aches. The desire to possess, to obsess, to close his hand around everything Varka is and keep it, sings through him so sharply that he can barely think.

"But he is never malicious," Illuga assured. "Sure, he may have a strange sense of humour, but he is a good person at heart."
"That doesn't mean he can't be oblivious, though," Paimon argued, weak as it was.
An accident lands Flins in the ocean by his lighthouse, where his lantern keeps his flame safe, albeit unable to reform.
