“It should be an easy mission,” his Master said with his signature Skywalker grin. Obi-Wan stared at him, disbelieving.
Their missions were never easy when Anakin always went out of his way to make them as difficult as possible. Giving food to a town on the outer rim that was going through a famine? Not that easy because his Master would inevitably sniff out a secret human trafficking ring that they had to dismantle, nearly getting Obi-Wan taken and then the planet set on fire with Anakin’s rage. A diplomatic mission on Naboo with his Master’s favorite Senator? Not just that as Anakin nearly cut off the head of a politician that got too handsy with Obi-Wan when they were just dancing.
The amount of times that Anakin nearly started a war because someone looked at Obi-Wan a little too long…

"What do we say when we want something, slut?" Soap tapped a bit more ash off the end of his cigar.
"Please, sir," Ghost whined, already unable to stop himself from rocking back and forth over it; the steel toe was so solid against him, he needed more pressure -
"Can't even wait for an answer," Soap said, voice thick with derision. He pushed his toe up harder into Ghost, pulling a gasp out of his lieutenant. "Try again."
Ghost's body was so tense with the effort it took to control himself that a breeze could have snapped him in half. "Please, sir," he gasped, "please, please sir I'll be good, I promise - "
"That's better," Soap said, lowering his foot back to flat on the floor and taking another puff of his cigar. "Go on then, Riley, give your captain a show."

It's been fifty four days since Ghost shut down, cold and silent as he stormed out of his quarters. Soap fucked up, plain and simple. He said something he shouldn’t have, didn’t give any thought to how it could be taken, and he knew it the moment it left his lips. Some nights he wants to barge inside Ghost’s room and beg him to just end it all, to smother Soap's misery gone. Soap can’t recall how he went through life before Ghost, but he can’t go on after him.
There is no after Simon Riley.

“Always take so divine, can’t fucking get enough of you. Think they’d want a taste? Since I know the perverts are fucking listening.” Soap muses it, like he doesn’t actually give a fuck, and it only half registers to Ghost, who’s whining as spit drips down his hole while Soap licks into him. Making a sucking noise before diving back in deep.
He hears words in his ears, soft grunts that sound familiar, voices disappearing and reappearing. Their team is listening to them. They’re listening to Ghost as he falls underneath Soaps tongue and now, his fingers. One hand lets his asscheek go, sliding in a finger to join his tongue and Ghost feels tense in the best way he’s ever felt.

The alpha within Soap thrives here in their task force, in their pack. It’s alive, swollen and beating out of his chest with his young virtue. The almost permanent snarl to his lip, the protruding vein in his forehead, the swell of his strong, tense arms. Dangerous, the glint in his eye when he’s slashing a throat, splayed in blood or commandeering their squad. He’s a purebred, gnarled thing who stops at nothing to get what he wants.
That’s the problem, and what makes Soap truly frightening. Because what he wants happens to be Ghost’s omega, and it’s only getting worse with each day that passes unsatisfied.
But no one can escape what they’re built of, and the bestial wolves within will always, always prevail.

It's only when the children finally break through the dense crowd that Silver realises three things in rapid succession; they are all girls, none of them are older than ten, and all of them—all of them, including the tiny one trailing in the back with a thumb in her mouth and a one-eyed doll in her hand—are looking straight at Flint.
"What the—" Silver starts, slanting Flint an incredulous look, "Are they talking to you?"
“No.”
There's something about the cadence of his voice that makes Silver laugh, once. Then Flint glances at him out of the corner of his eye.
“Hang on,” Silver says, drawing close, “Do you know them?"
