Then that stupid tractor-beam or whatever sci-fi called them had to go and ruin her day! ... why was there a half-clipped bird in her cell? Were these guys animal abusers??

Running out of friends’ couches to sleep on, Grian meets Scar at the park, an eccentric artist who models ideas for his dream theme park and sketches pictures of his cat, Jellie.But as the Pearl catches wind of a new quarry in town and Grian slowly falls in love, they’ll both realize that maybe their goals aren’t as simple as they seem. After all, a brother and a sister can only be kept apart for so long.

Getting used to Hermitcraft had already been hard enough. Grian has only been part of the group for a couple months, but he was already infatuated with the chaos. Hell, he embraces it. It's been years (after the loss of his family, his old smp, his humanity), and he's eager to make new friends. Hermitcraft accepts him with open arms, and he fits right in - no surprise to anyone.
But then things get harder. Not pranks weird, either. (Weird in an inability to sleep, a constant aching in his back, a longing for anyone nearby all times of the day, and seriously, why does Grian keep stealing clothes?!)

Mumbo didn’t full and truly panic until the moment that Grian passed out.
Concerned when he arrived to see his friend so clearly in pain? Sure. Upset to find out Grian had been hiding this from him for the entire season? Yeah. Nauseated when he saw the dark bruising and blood spread across Grian’s back? Yes. Bloody terrified when he thought Grian’s previous captors may have something to do with this? Absolutely.
But panic didn’t set in until Grian was slumped unconscious in his arms.

Welcome to Ever Life, the fourth iteration of the Life Games.
For the rest of the game, all of you will inhabit this 1000x1000 block area where you will have to survive against the elements, mobs, and each other as well.
The twist about this iteration of the game is that each of you will be randomly assigned a set of abilities, strengths, and weaknesses based on fairy tales that will affect you both positively and negatively in combat and daily life. Your assigned fairy tale role will remain with you for the rest of your time in the game and cannot be changed, so it is best you come to understand your assigned abilities and functions to avoid an early death.
After you leave spawn, either on your own or with a team, you will be assigned your amount of lives in 5 minutes. 2 minutes later, your roles will be chosen, but the changes that will come with it won't settle in until 1 minute later, and in the next three minutes, the Boogeyman (or men) will be chosen.
We wish you all the most of luck. May the strongest survive the game and the echoes’ wrath.

“Here!” Scar says, chest heaving as he throws his arms out to signal at what is just more endless sand. It’s… it’s just sand, there’s no significant landmarks, not even cacti here. “It needs to be here, Grian!”
Grian lunges past Scar to slice into the creeper that is beginning to sneak up on his distracted friend. It crumbles into gunpowder seconds before it seems ready to blow, and his chest deflates with relief. “What needs to be here?”
“The temple, Grian!” Scar says. “It’s how we’re going to make sure everyone can stay safe. We’re going to build the desert temple!”

When Grian was informed that he would be given a bodyguard for his journey to the Rift he was… well let’s just say displeased would be putting it mildly.
Unsurprisingly, nobody in his family would listen to his very reasonable objections.
“Grian, mate,” Mumbo had said exasperatedly in response to his complaints. “It’s not a personal insult to your abilities. It’s just a matter of national security, you know? Think of it like… extra insurance.”
“More like extra annoying insurance,” Grian had grumbled.
“Oi, stop being a pain,” Mumbo had said, grabbing Grian in a headlock and rustling his hair. “Besides, every bodyguard I’ve ever had has been quite boring. You probably won't even notice they’re there.”
Christ, Grian wished Mumbo had been right.
